Submission Guidelines

Types of Submissions

We welcome various types of submissions for the forum, including conventional academic-style paper presentations as well as other more creative and arts-based presentations.

For those who might find it challenging to join us synchronously (i.e., to be online to present their work due to internet connectivity, time zone, or other challenges), we welcome submissions of pre-recorded video presentations that will play during the allocated time.

Submission Languages

Given the forum's global nature and our commitment to make the process as inclusive as possible, we will accept submissions in any of the following languages: English, French, Spanish, and Arabic. We hope to add other languages in the near future.

For successful applicants who may not be able to present in English, we ask that you please identify a simultaneous translator to help translate the presentation. The forum’s secretariat will also be happy to do its best to assist with translation in any way it can.

Making a Submission

When making a submission, applicants have two options to choose from:

Option 1: Academic Paper Presentation

Individuals and groups interested in presenting their work in a conventional academic paper presentation format should submit a 200-word abstract of their proposed paper presentation.

Types of presentations in this category may include (but are not limited to):

  • Explorations of pedagogical innovations and experimentations in fostering more balanced and inclusive curricula and classrooms practices in their representations of ancient/Indigenous histories and/or wisdom traditions

  • Analyses of nonformal and informal pedagogical models seeking to offer some of those teachings omitted from or misrepresented in the formal education context

  • Findings from research studies concerning some of the central questions and themes of the forum

Option 2: Creative/Arts-based Presentation

Individuals and groups interested in presenting their work in creative forms—such as a poem, song, video, or other types of creative works—should submit a 200-word description of what they plan to present. While not mandatory, you are encouraged to include a sample of your artistic work in your application, as this will help reviewers assess whether the proposed creative work would be a good fit for the forum.

This category encompasses presentations by various educators, artists, activists, and community leaders demonstrating and creatively presenting innovative approaches related to rendering curricula and classrooms practices more balanced and inclusive in their representations of ancient/Indigenous histories and/or wisdom traditions.

Please note that to allow space for a diversity of voices and as many contributions as possible, each applicant's name may only appear once as the first presenter on a presentation. However, there is no limit to how many times a presenter’s name can appear as second or third presenter.

Please make your submission through the online application by filling out the form below. Any supplementary materials you may wish to include can be attached through the form. â€‹
